November 2021 Newsletter

This season and all year round, we're grateful for the opportunity to serve our community and advocate for change.

November 2021 Newsletter

YDHI has been busy with our gubernatorial pau hana series, which featured Dr. Josh Green, Vicky Cayetano, and Kirk Caldwell. We also hosted our second annual legislative kickoff event, which had representation from elected officials and community leaders. For the 2022 year, our legislative priorities are: Housing, Health, Sustainability, and Transportation! Stay tuned to see how you can be involved in advocating for these priorities. We recently celebrated Friendsgiving (see image below!) with our executive board, and we hope to hold future in-person events with more members as things become safe!

A Look Back

In case you missed those events, we have them available to watch on our Facebook! Here's the link to see Dr. Josh Green's event, Vicky Cayetano's event, and Kirk Caldwell's event.

Nov. 18, 2021: We hosted our second annual legislative kickoff event, where we unveiled our new legislative priorities. For the 2022 term, we will be focusing on housing, sustainability, transportation, and health! Thanks to our panelists Senator Chris Lee, Representative Adrian Tam, and Councilmember Luke Evslin for addressing these priority areas! We also received special messages from elected officials. If you were unable to make it, hear what Senator Schatz, Senator Hirono, Representative Case, and Representative Kahele had to say to our Young Dems!

A Look Ahead

December 1-25: YDHI Presents 25 Days of Good! YDHI wants to spread the holiday spirit by serving our communities. We've set a quantifiable goal we hope to meet by December 25, 2021. We're looking to collect 25 bags of trash, donate 25 bags of clothes and household items, complete 25 hours of community service, and have 12 members donate blood! To help us meet our goal, record your activities at:

December 7, 2021: We're excited to launch our first island-based chapter, O'ahu Young Democrats! We welcome all O'ahu-based YDHI members to join us at our first membership meeting at 7 pm. We will get to know each other through games and ice breakers, and make a plan to better connect in 2022. Link to register here:
