Aloha kākou, Young Democrats of Hawaiʻi (YDHI) is proud to congratulate the 14 young Democrats who won elections last night across the State of Hawaiʻi: 12 to the Hawaii House of Representatives and 2 to County Councils. We also extend our congratulations to all who ran and played a crucial role in our electoral process. Young candidates up and down the ballot brought fresh thinking on key issues and rallied young voters to turn out in force. A fantastic 66.9 percent of Hawaiʻi's registered voters made their voice heard this year, a huge increase from the 58.4 percent turnout in the last presidential election in 2016. This good news is especially welcome as we face an alarming convergence of socioeconomic challenges. Now more than ever, we need the vision, mindset, and grit of our emerging young Democrats. These, coupled with an activated young voter bloc, are what will lead us to a brighter tomorrow. Sincerely, Scott Grimmer Communications Director, Young Democrats of Hawaiʻi scotthgrimmer@gmail.com
